In today’s world, it’s often hard to recognize the value of activities that don’t have tangible outputs—like socializing, relaxing, resting, or even partying—because society has glorified hustle culture. We’re made to believe that only things like good grades, career achievements, and wealth signify value and contribution to the world but there’s so much value in being a student of life, in pursuing self-education.
The Limitations of Traditional Education
School, as we know it, follows a limited curriculum—one that’s designed and decided by the government of your region. Essentially, you’re only learning what they want you to learn ! Education, in its formal sense, is the process of giving or receiving systematic instruction, often tailored by the government or community to develop citizens as part of the workforce. It’s essentially human capital development.
But here’s the question: Is our educational system addressing the labor needs, social issues, and economic challenges of our country?
The Value of Self-Education
One of the most relevant means of education is self-education—learning through experiences, exploring new ideas, and traveling to broaden your perspective. It’s about taking control of your own growth rather than being limited to a curriculum designed for a different era.
Dear Queens, don’t let school get in the way of your education.
